Every building starts with the dirt under it. A pad that is level, compacted and graded to drain keeps concrete from cracking and keeps water out. Diekemper Excavating builds pads for grain bins, pole barns, shops, homes and livestock buildings across southern Illinois. We own our dozers, excavators, skid steers and dump trucks, so your pad gets done without waiting on rentals.
Grain bins carry heavy, uneven loads, so the pad under the foundation has to be solid. We build bin pads to your bin dealer’s elevation and size, with room for the aeration, legs and drive-through traffic around them.
Pole barns, machine sheds, and shops need a level, well-drained base. We build the pad, set the grade so water runs away from the doors, and can trench for the underground electric to your new building.
For a slab or crawlspace home, we prepare a compacted building pad to the elevation on your plans and grade the lot so water moves away from the house.
Confinement buildings need a large, level site, plus excavation for manure pits under or beside the building. We handle the site work from topsoil stripping to final grade, and we dig the pits to the builder’s depth.
That depends on the fill and the weather. We compact in layers so most pads are ready for the builder soon after we finish. Your builder will set the final requirements.
Yes. We build gravel driveways and private lanes, and we haul rock.
